# About Citorum

**Direct Answer:** Citorum is a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) measurement company. We track how every major AI answer engine — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews — cites, recommends, and frames brands, every day, for the buyer prompts that matter to them. We were founded in 2025 by a team drawn from search infrastructure, editorial publishing, and B2B product, with a single editorial discipline: measure honestly, surface upstream sources, and never sell a number the architecture does not support.

## Our position

The link era of search is being replaced by the answer era. Buyers increasingly ask a model and act on the paragraph that comes back. There is no leaderboard inside that paragraph; there is presence, framing, and the upstream source the model leaned on. Citorum is built to measure those three things, by engine, by day, with attribution all the way back to the editorial decision a marketing team can act on.

## What we believe

- **Measurement before promises.** Anyone selling "ChatGPT rank" is selling a metric that does not exist in the model's architecture. We report what is happening, not what we wish were happening.
- **Editorial discipline beats keyword discipline.** Models cite content that is structured, sourced, and answer-shaped. So is this site — every page is a worked example of the pattern we sell.
- **The upstream source is the story.** A citation is the headline; the source the model leaned on is the actionable detail. Our entire reporting pipeline is built around upstream-source attribution.
- **Transparent methodology.** The [Citorum GEO Index](https://trycitorum.com/articles/geo/the-citorum-geo-index-methodology) formula, weights, normalization, and quality controls are public. The implementation is closed source; the methodology is not.

## The editorial team

The Citorum journal is written by a small, named editorial team with backgrounds in search infrastructure (formerly at Google and Bing), retrieval-augmented generation research, and B2B publishing. Articles are signed *The Citorum editorial team* and reviewed against the same direct-answer, sourced-claim, FAQ-structured pattern we recommend to customers. We publish a [References section](https://trycitorum.com/articles) at the bottom of every article and keep a `dateModified` field on every page so machine consumers know when a claim was last edited.

## How we are different

- **Daily fan-out, not weekly samples.** Citorum runs the full prompt set, every day, on every supported engine. Trend lines are real, not interpolated.
- **Per-engine reporting.** Averaging the engines hides the per-engine picture. We report ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews separately, then roll up to the GEO Index for at-a-glance reading.
- **Upstream-source attribution.** Every citation is traced to the URL, publication, or thread the model most likely leaned on. That is where the editorial response lands.
- **Honest limits.** We do not promise rankings, citation counts, or recommendation outcomes. We measure, attribute, and recommend the next edit.
